Turning Point has an exciting announcement!
We are delighted to share that Turning Point has been appointed as Victoria’s new Statewide Specialist Service for people living with mental illness and substance use or addiction.
We wish to thank the Minister for Mental Health, the Hon James Merlino MP, and Minister for Health, the Hon Martin Foley MP, for this exciting opportunity to play an important leadership role in guiding best practice and supporting integrated care.
The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System identified the lack of integrated care as an area that needs urgent attention. For too long people have been bounced between alcohol and other drug and mental health services in a way that negatively impacts their quality of care and health outcomes.
The Statewide Specialist Service will work toward a best practice model of integrated care for people with co-occurring substance use or addiction and mental illness, and help build the capability of clinicians within the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Services. To do this, we recognise the importance of partnering and working in collaboration with services and those with lived experience.
We look forward to working in partnership to build a better system – one that works for people with co-occurring substance use or addiction and mental illness. A system that ensures people get the world-class treatment and wraparound support they deserve.
