Addicted Australia a finalist in 2021 Walkley Documentary Award
Turning Point is delighted to announce Addicted Australia is a finalist for a 2021 Walkley Award in the documentary category.
The four-part series was among six documentaries longlisted in September for the award, with three finalists announced on October 21, 2021.
Although each documentary represents a different style and mode of documentary storytelling, all aim to highlight the very best in Australian long-form journalism (The Walkley Foundation).
Addicted Australia is produced by the award winning Blackfella Films and Special Broadcasting Services (SBS), and provides a unique insight into addiction, stigma, and treatment by following ten clients, their clinicians, peer support workers, and families and friends as they take part in a six-month treatment program designed by Turning Point.
Turning Point is proud to have partnered with Blackfella Films and SBS to produce this ground-breaking series, and feels privileged to have worked with the ten participants and their loved ones to bring to screen their powerful stories of addiction and recovery.
Turning Point would like to acknowledge all of the documentaries nominated in the documentary category and wish the finalists the very best of luck.
The Walkley Award winners will be announced on February 11, 2022 at an event in Tamworth (The Walkley Foundation).
