National Hospitality Workers Appreciation Day

20 Feb 2025

Help us celebrate the significant role hospitality workers play in our lives and spread the word about the “Hospo drinking cultures” project designed to support their health and wellbeing.

National Hospitality Workers Appreciation Day

National Hospitality Workers Appreciation Day celebrates the significant role that hospitality workers play in our lives. They often work long hours in stressful environments and maintain high standards of service that many of us enjoy.

By recognising their contribution, we can show appreciation for their hard work and bring attention to the challenges they face, such as burnout and demanding work conditions.

It is also an opportunity to spread the word about initiatives designed to support their health and wellbeing, such as the “Hospo drinking cultures” project

Hospo drinking cultures project

Drinking alcohol during or after a shift has long been a common practice among hospitality workers, especially men. However, attitudes toward alcohol are starting to change.

As part of VicHealth’s Men’s Risky Drinking Initiative, “Hospo drinking cultures” seeks to amplify these changes through a series of short animated documentaries.

The documentaries feature personal experiences of how men are navigating and changing hospitality cultures to facilitate low-risk drinking and care between hospitality workers.

This #NationalHospitalityWorkersAppreciationDay, 23 February, show your appreciation for the dedication of hospitality workers by sharing the “Hospo drinking cultures” animations.

By being part of the day, you can support workplace cultures that facilitate alternative ways of winding down after a shift, and help to increase the health and wellbeing of hospitality workers everywhere.

Watch the animations.
