Associate Program Director, Turning Point Treatment Services
Rick manages Turning Point’s Telephone & Online Services program that provides over 20 state and national helpline services responding to people affected by alcohol, other drugs and problem gambling. These services run 24 hours, 7 days a week employing professional counsellors to provide brief intervention, support and referral to people seeking help. Rick overseas innovation and enhancement to this growing program, which is at the forefront of telehealth service provision and online peer support forums for people affected by addiction in Australia.
Background
Rick holds post graduate qualifications in counselling and has extensive experience in forensic youth work, management and project management experience in health, and has overseen the growth of Turning Point Telephone & Online Services to span over 20 helplines. He is passionate about supporting help seeking and providing online spaces for peer involvement, and has led the development of the peer support community on the national online counselling service Counselling Online.
Research interests
Research interests include examining help seeking and effectiveness of innovative telehealth.
