Talking Point: Codeine dependence - what happened and what's next?

This presentation looks at codeine dependence in Australia, including the history of emerging problems with codeine, characteristics of codeine dependence, treatment and regulatory responses and early findings regarding the impact of codeine rescheduling.

Dr Suzanne Nielsen is an academic and clinical pharmacist. Her research focuses on pharmaceutical drug problems and treatment responses. She has recently returned to Victoria after five years based at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (UNSW Sydney) to take up a position as Deputy Director at the Monash Addiction Research Centre.
