Specialist Pharmacotherapy Medical Service
The Specialist Pharmacotherapy Service (SPS) clinic supports individuals experiencing opioid use disorder, in combination with other complex needs (e.g. co-occurring mental health difficulties, homelessness).
Individuals seen in this clinic are stabilised on opioid agonist treatments (i.e. methadone or buprenorphine) with addiction specialist oversight and regular review. Clients are transferred out of this SPS clinic to community GP prescribers once they have achieved a period of sustained remission.
Suitable for
Clients with opioid use disorder seeking opioid agonist treatments (i.e. methadone or buprenorphine), and who require specialist support and more frequent review than can be obtained via community GP management.
