1 East and Wellington House videos to help prepare for detox

Feeling prepared can be an important step for people making a change to their alcohol or drug use. Our new clients, family & friends and clinicians videos have been created to help people prepare for admission and improve access to these crucial services. The videos were launched last week and are being rolled out as part of the intake process for clients seeking admission to 1 East and Wellington House.

Mpilwenhle Mthunzi, Associate Program Director for Turning Point Treatment Services says

“we hope that these videos will help improve the whole community’s experience of this service. We developed them to assist in taking out some of the anxiety of attending detox and stabilisation for clients as well as their family and friends. Being able to see where they are going and how our service works should help them turn up ready to make a change to their alcohol or drug use."

The clinician videos have been developed to spread the word about this service to GP’s, Social Workers and other clinicians in the community that help support people who are being affected by their alcohol or drug use. It will be distributed across various channels and networks to help improve clinicians’ understanding of how the service works.

About Turning Point Addiction Medicine Unit (TPAMU)

The Turning Point Addiction Medicine Unit (TPAMU) is a comprehensive AOD treatment service providing medically-managed withdrawal and stabilisation. The Unit offers residential 24/7 care supported by a multi-disciplinary medical, nursing and allied health team, overseen by senior addiction medical specialists.

Referral to these services is via the Eastern Consortium of Alcohol and Drug Services (ECADS) central intake number: 1800 778 278.

The videos were funded by the Victorian Department of Health as part of the launch of 1 East.
